(Seguin) – The Seguin ISD community, especially parents, are invited to welcome a new top leader to the school district’s administration team. A meet and greet will be held today for Dr. Veronica Vijil, the new deputy superintendent for the Seguin ISD. The district earlier this summer announced Dr. Vijil’s appointment. That’s according to Sean Hoffmann, the chief communications officer for the Seguin ISD.
“The Seguin ISD is excited to welcome Veronica Vijil to our district and to our community. She is coming to serve as the deputy superintendent and in her role, she replaces Dr. Marc Cantu who previously filled that position for about five years with us. Dr. Cantu as some will remember was promoted for a new program within Region 20 doing work for the Texas Education Agency. So with his promotion in that area, we are glad to have Dr. Vijil come and join us. She does have extensive experience in public education here in Texas including most recently being the superintendent of Fabens ISD which is in the El Paso area so as as former superintendent, we are confident that she will be able to come in and make a big impact here in Seguin,” said Hoffmann.
Prior to her superintendency, which began in 2019, Dr. Vijil was Canutillo ISD’s associate superintendent. She has worked in education for over 30 years having also served Ysleta and Spring ISDs.
Hoffmann says he hopes folks will take advantage of meeting her personally especially before the start of another busy school year.
“We are inviting our school community, our families, parents, business partners to come today to Seguin ISD at Central Office between 5:45 and 6:25 this evening. It will be a come and go event. You are welcome to come in and say hello and welcome and introduce yourself to Dr. Vijil during that time,” said Hoffmann.
As deputy superintendent, Dr. Vijil will oversee the day-to-day operations of learning and innovation while working closely with campus administration teams. Again, the meet and greet will be held today from 5:45 to 6:25 p.m.
July 1 was Dr. Vijil’s first official day on the job.
