KWED radio prepares for downtown celebration
(Seguin) — Seguin Radio KWED is making sure kids have plenty of fun during this year’s annual Freedom Fiesta. The event will be held from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday in Central Park.
Helping kids get a jump start into their Fourth of July celebration will be HR Party Rental in San Antonio.
Just like last year, kids will again be kept busy all night long with a street filled with bouncy houses. The company says it plans to keep toddlers to big kids busy with close to 10 to 15 fun inflatables and obstacle courses.
The cost for unlimited jumping will be $10 a child. HR Party Rental this year will also feature its mechanical bull. Cost is $5 a person.
Helping kids transition into their favorite superhero or character will be Robynisms Face Painting.
This will be Robynisms first time to provide artwork during the annual celebration. The local face painter is one of the area’s popular artists specializing in face, body and home art.
Twisting up some real cool fun will be Super Awesome Balloon Animals. As per tradition, the company will again return to Seguin providing an assortment of fun animal balloons. The company is known for is private creations plus its creativity over at Wonderland Jump and Play in San Antonio.
Kids, of course, are invited to help kick off this year’s Freedom Fiesta at 6 p.m. with the annual Kiddie Parade. Kids are invited to walk, ride or cruise throughout Central Park. Leading this year’s march around the downtown square will be Seguin’s very own Uncle Sam a.k.a. Texas State Representative John Kuempel.
Participation is made simple. Show your patriotic pride by decorating strollers, wagons, bikes, scooters, skateboards, or motorized vehicles. The top entries in the walking, riding and motorized categories will be presented prizes by Seguin Mayor Donna Dodgen and Guadalupe County Commissioner Pct. 2 Drew Engelke. The non-political event is hosted by the Guadalupe County Republican Women and again, is held in conjunction with Freedom Fiesta. No sign-up is required. Families are just asked to simply line up in their respective category minutes prior to the event.
This year’s Freedom Fiesta will include just over 15 food trucks and other non-profit food vendors.
The celebration will feature live music by Texas Country Music Entertainer of the Year nominee Jesse Raub, Jr. Also sharing the stage for a live performance will be Susan Hickman.
Freedom Fiesta is free. The event will be held from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday in downtown Seguin.
