(Seguin) — Yet another college football offer came in for a Seguin High School senior this week.

Tight end Jackson Pond has been offered by McMurry University. Pond joins Matador running back John Jackson who also received an official offer from the Abilene school this week.

The offer is the second in the past week for Pond. North American University made an official offer to the Seguin senior on Monday.

In his junior season, Pond had 13 receptions for 170 yards and four receiving touchdowns in seven games played for the Matadors. During his sophomore campaign, Pond hauled in 13 catches for 126 yards.

The McMurry War Hawks are an NCAA Division-III football program. They compete in the American Southwest Conference. The War Hawks were 1-7 in conference play in 2022 and 1-9 overall. McMurry is lead by head coach Jordan Neal.

It’s been a busy week of collegiate offers for Matador football players. In addition to Pond and Jackson, defensive back Donovan Cray and offensive lineman Cooper Neumann received offers to play football on the next level in the last few days. Cray was offered by North American late last week and Neumann received an offer from Louisiana Christian University earlier this week.

Pond, Newmann and Jackson are coming off Second Team All-District 12-5A seasons for the Matadors in 2022. Cray was an All-District Honorable Mention as a safety last season.

Seguin was 6-5 in 2022 under second year head coach Craig Dailey, making the UIL playoffs for a program record 5th straight season. The 2023 Matador football season starts with a road trip to Alamo Heights on August 25th.
