(Seguin) — Don’t forget to take Old Glory home this weekend following the closing ceremonies for this year’s Field of Honor. The weeklong event will be packed up and put away following the closing ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday.
All week-long folks from all over have traveled to the site on the lawn of Faith Lutheran Church to purchase their American flag in honor of or in memory of military personnel, a veteran or first responder. Flags were purchased for $25 and then were planted alongside hundreds of others near State Highway 123 Bypass. This marks the fourth year that the local committee of Field of Honor has hosted the event. The idea was to recognize the many sacrifices of our American heroes as well as to raise money for the American Legion Post #245. Those who purchased a flag are encouraged to stop by the closing ceremonies to pick up their flag.
This year’s event included the playing of Taps daily at 7 p.m. as well as a flag retirement ceremony on Flag Day.
