Ernest A. Mendoza Sr. unexpectedly passed away on May 19, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 60, surrounded by his beloved family. He was born on November 1, 1962, in Knox City, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Refugia and Juan Mendoza.
He is survived by his loving wife Beatrice of 44 years; his children, Angie (Josseck) Seale, Ernest (Jennifer) Mendoza Jr., Joe (Donna) Mendoza, Juan A. Mendoza, and Kourtney Mendoza. He is also survived by his brother Johnny (Mickie) Mendoza, and sister Isabel (Vance) Marquis, eight grandchildren, several aunts and uncles and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was a lifelong fan of football; his favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys. He was an avid athlete, playing football from a young age, and he loved the outdoors, spending time fishing with his children. As a protector he was always there for his family, but he was also the family prankster. He worked most of his life as a steel mill worker for 25 years at SMI in Seguin, Texas.
Visitation will be Friday, June 2, 2023, from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm and a prayer service at 7:00 pm that evening at Palmer Mortuary 11116 N. Austin St. Seguin, Texas 78155.
Continued visitation will begin at 8:00 am on Saturday, June 3, 2023 and a procession will depart at 10:00 am to Our Lady of Guadalupe Cemetery for interment.
