(Marion) — The Marion Lady Bulldog softball program placed 12 student-athletes on the 26-3A All-District awards list for their work on the diamond during the 2023 season.
Outfielder Lailah Hernandez was named District Defensive Player of the Year. Pitcher Kira Jones, infielders Juliana Loyola, Gianna Ricarte, outfielder Kelli Cielencki and utility player Alexis Guthrie made the All-District First Team.
Infielders Breyanna Gonzales and Carlie Alvarado along with outfielder Peyton Smith-Velasquez landed on the All-District Second Team.
Freshman outfielder Ellie Parker was named District Newcomer of the Year.
Greenlee Trevino and Maggie Luna earned spots on the Honorable Mention list.
Marion finished tied for second place in District 26-3A and advanced to the bi-district round of the 3A Region IV playoffs in head coach Sammy Scribner’s fifth season leading the Lady Bulldogs.
