(San Marcos) — The Texas High School Coaches Association Academic All-State softball teams were announced on Monday as five area players were recognized for their work in the classroom.
Seguin’s Ryan Rangel was named to the Academic All-State 2nd Team, while fellow Matador Ashlie Aguilar was selected as an Honorable Mention to the academic team.
Three Navarro Lady Panthers were tabbed to the all-state academic softball teams.
Samantha Mundine and Laylin Sturm were named to the Academic All-State 2nd Team, while Carlie Pitner was named an honorable mention.
The Academic All-State selections are the 2nd this year for Rangel and Sturm and the third for Aguilar.
Rangel was recognized on the Academic All-State volleyball team in the Fall. Sturm was named to the Academic All-State basketball team in March. Aguilar was selected Academic All-State in volleyball and basketball this past season.
