Seguin among the Friday stops for Hot Rod Tour of Texas

Public invited to enjoy festivities at local distillery

(Seguin) — Get ready for the sights and sounds of hot rods as they cruise their way into Seguin this Friday. CY distillery, located at 1535 Hoffman Rd., has been chosen as one of the stops in the Hot Rod Tour of Texas. The event is designed to give car and truck enthusiasts the chance to enjoy their vehicles while traveling along the backroads of Texas over a period of four days.

This year’s event featuring hundreds of registered cars will be stopping by and hanging out at the local business. The vehicles are expected to arrive Friday anywhere between 10 and 11 a.m. and will remain parked until 1 p.m.

Excited to have earned a spot on this year’s map is CY distillery Owner Brent Convey.

“I heard about this Hot Rod Tour last year from a friend of mine and I pushed them hard and here we are. We stole the Hot Rod Tour of Texas from the Spoetzl Brewery in Shiner. I think that’s a big (deal) because Shiner is a great beer. So, now we are able to have it here. There will be cars from all over the U.S. including Montana — as far away as I know — 300 registered cars. We’ll see how many of them we actually get out,” said Convey.

Convey says the roadtrippers are expected to hit the road in Victoria, making Seguin its first stop of the day on Friday.

“It actually starts Thursday night in Victoria. There’s a kick-off party. We are the very first official stop on the tour. I think there are eight stops altogether but it finishes north of Dallas on Sunday afternoon,” said Convey.

Convey says a free invitation is being extended to anyone who wants to come out and check out the variety of vehicles that are participating in this year’s tour.

He says even locals are encouraged to pull out their own vehicles from the garage for a chance at some great prizes. He says live music, cocktails plus three food trucks featuring Creole, burgers and brisket will also be available for lunch.

Convey says he’s even dubbed the event as “taking a mental health day to come out and see some cool cars.”

“If you’ve got a cool car, bring it. It’s not just the Hot Rod Tour that can win the prizes. It’s everybody who’s got a cool car that comes in and spends some time with us,” said Convey.

This year’s four day tour is said to include the 300 drivers, 700 attendees and 11 stops.  The caravan will be coming into Seguin from Gonzales on U.S. Hwy. 90 Alt.  Hoffman Road is located near the Randolph Auxiliary Airfield east of Seguin.
