Teachers of the Year in the district being recognized

(Seguin) — The celebration of campus teachers of the year continues this spring in the Seguin ISD.

The school district is again recognizing the daily accomplishments of all teachers especially those selected as the Teacher of the Year for their respective Seguin ISD campus.

The top 13 teachers in the Seguin ISD for the 2022-2023 school year have been named.

The teachers were each selected as Teacher of the Year by their campus peers. 

Those named as Teacher of the Year for their respective schools include Edith Vargas Pu’, of Ball Early Childhood Center; Jacquelyn Cardenas of Jefferson Avenue Elementary School; Stephanie Weaver, of Koennecke Elementary School; Michelle Mize, of McQueeney Elementary School; Marie Cevallos, of Patlan Elementary School; Debora Rideaux, of Rodriguez Elementary School;  Criselda “Gracie” Martinez, of Vogel Elementary School; Travis Sutton, of Weinert Elementary School; Christina Smith, of Barnes Middle School; Haley Long, of Briesemeister Middle School; Bily Maples, of Alternative School; Brandy Grimm, of Mercer-Blumberg Learning Center and Christina Balderas, of Seguin High School.

Each of these teachers will now go on to compete for the district’s title of Seguin ISD Elementary Teacher of the Year and Secondary Teacher of the Year. The annual awards banquet for that contest is slated for Thursday, May 26.
