SEGUIN, Texas — Texas Lutheran senior pitcher Ashlyn Strother (Seabrook/Clear Falls) has been named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Pitcher of the Week for her performance last week against Hanover College, the conference announced on Monday.
Strother was exceptional in TLU’s shutout victory of Hanover on Thursday, twirling a complete-game shutout of the Panthers and helping the Bulldogs to a 2-0 win. The senior surrendered no runs, a walk, and just three hits to go with seven strikeouts. With the win, Strother collected her second shutout of the season and recorded her 50th career win. With the seven strikeouts, Strother moved into third in program history in the category – surpassing Maitlin Raycroft (371 strikeouts) – with a new career tally of 375 strikeouts.
Strother is 4-0 in the circle in 2023 with an ERA of 1.08 and a SCAC-leading 29 strikeouts.
The Bulldogs host No. 25 Piedmont for a mid-week doubleheader on Wednesday, March 8, before opening SCAC conference play next weekend against Schreiner in Seguin. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
