(Marion) – Marion Bulldog senior Dominic Castellanos was the District 13-3A Utility Player of the Year and now he’ll be taking his talents to Alpine, Texas.
On Wednesday, Castellanos signed his National Letter of Intent at Marion High School to play football at Sul Ross University.
The senior had 1232 all purpose yards for the Bulldogs this past season. He scored 15 TD’s including 2 fumble recoveries returned for scores playing at safety on defense. Castellanos also had two interceptions in being named the district’s top utility player.
He says he wants to put his utility skills to work for the Lobos.
“Wherever they put me, wherever they want me to go, wherever I can go I will go. Anywhere they want to play me, I will go. Just give me some PT (playing time). Let me make a difference on the field. Let me show you what I can do.”
Marion Athletic Director and head football coach Ryne Miller says he’s excited to see Castellanos utilize his skill set on the next level.
“He’s got a very bright future. We’re excited to watch him and see what he can do at the next level. Obviously he’s done a lot of things for us in every sport it seems like. He’s a four sport varsity guy. He’s done a phenomenal job of just working and showing up every day and producing results. He does it the right way and he’s gonna be fun to watch on the next level.”
Castellanos plans to study law enforcement at Sul Ross. He says he would like to follow in his father’s military footsteps after his college career and has aspirations to be a police officer.
Sul Ross will also be getting another Bulldog this fall as Castellanos’ teammate Kenneth Erwin also signed a commitment to play for the Lobos. Erwin and Castallanos were a part of six Marion High School student-athletes who signed letters of intent on Wednesday.
Jackie Fly signed a powerlifting NLI to attend the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Hayley Mabee signed her commitment to play volleyball for Temple College in Central Texas.
Dillyn Dehoyos signed a letter of intent to play football at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa.
Aidan Rios signed on to play football at Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas.
