(San Antonio) — Seguin junior John Jackson passed 1000 points in his Matador career as Seguin came back from a 14 point fourth quarter deficit to knock off Converse Judson 90-89 at the SAISD Tournament Thursday night.
Jackson finished with 37 points to lead the Mats in going over 1000 points for his career. Seguin’s Kevon Williams added 18 as the Matadors move on to play Medina Valley in the tournament this afternoon.
(Geronimo) — The Navarro boys went 2-0 in the Panther Classic Boys Basketball Tournament in Geronimo on Thursday beating Luling 47-42 in the afternoon after taking out Hallettsville 53-37 in their first game on Thursday morning.
Panther head coach Cody Wallace talked about the big first games from sophomore Patrick Monge and senior Rylan Ward that got Navarro off to a good start in the tournament.
“Patrick is learning a lot from Rylan Ward. They’re really helping each other out. Riley’s been a good leader for us.” Wallace said. “I think Patrick’s taking on some of those positive qualities Rylan has and learning a lot. For Rylan Ward, you know we’re really enjoying his leadership and when he continues to do great, positive things on the floor I think everybody reflects that.”
Monge had 13 points against Hallettsville while Ward dropped in 12. Navarro will next play San Antonio JFK this afternoon at 12:45 in the Panther tournament.
(Devine) — The Navarro Runnin’ Lady Panthers went 2-0 Thursday at the Devine Tournament beating Aransas Pass 64-47 and taking down Eagle Pass 81-26. Senior Tatum Harborth averaged 32.5 points in the two victories for Navarro. The Lady Panthers will continue tournament play today in Devine.

(Comfort) — The Marion boys beat Harper 54-26 and then fell to the Hondo Owls 66-47 on Thursday as the Bulldogs compete in the Comfort tournament.
(Lago Vista) — And the Marion Lady Bulldogs beat Thrall 37-34 Thursday at the Lago Vista North Shore Classic Basketball Tournament.
(San Antonio) — Also on the high school basketball court tonight, the Seguin Lady Matadors are at Harlandale for a final tune-up before they start District 26-5A play next week.
