Families invited to Lucky's December Dash 1K on TLU campus

(Seguin) – If you’ve already got plans of going out for a jog or leisure walk this weekend, then you might as well head on over to Texas Lutheran University this Saturday for its second annual Lucky’s December Dash 1K. The event is being hosted by the TLU President’s Black and Gold Council.

Student member Brandon Chaney says registration to enter the race is simple. He says it’s either $5 a person or the donation of four non-perishable food items.

“Lucky’s December Dash, it’s a Christmas theme run throughout TLU’s campus so it will be a one-mile course and pretty much what the goal is here is for us to raise money and donate food to some local charities. This year, we will be donating everything, and all proceeds will be going to the Christian Cupboard and so you can come out and have a little bit of fun at TLU and see our beautiful campus and just come run and have a good time,” said Chaney.

Pablo Colon, the president of the organization, says free t-shirts will also be awarded to the first 50 people to come out and sign-up. He says the event is just another great way to extend an invitation for the Seguin community to come on campus and help celebrate the season.

“With being a part of the President’s Black and Gold Council, we help represent the university at different social events with different donors, potential students type of thing and we really wanted to get more into giving back to the community as well so we just brainstormed last year and came up with this idea and since it was such a hit, we decided to do it again this year,” said Colon.

Children are especially encouraged to come out and take photos with Lucky the Bulldog Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Saturday followed by the race at 9 a.m. The starting point will be in the TLU football stadium.
