Spouse of Seguin ISD board member applauds the district's Team of 8.

(Seguin) — In a heartfelt message, Gilbert Moreno, the husband of outgoing Seguin ISD Board Member Glenda Moreno echoed words of thanks and appreciation for the board’s ability to work as a team over the last four years while his wife represented the constituents of District 7.

Tuesday marked the final meeting for Glenda who was defeated during the Nov. 8 General Election by incoming Trustee Josh Bright.

Despite the outcome of that race, Moreno offered a sincere applause to the board and the success that it has endured over these last few years.

Speaking before the board during Tuesday’s Seguin ISD Board meeting, Moreno states, “I could go on and say a lot of good things about my wife but today, it’s a salute to the whole board because it’s about ‘us’ and not ‘I.’ Thank you for caring enough. Caring for each other. Caring for your school district and caring to welcome the new board member Mr. Bright. Thank you for making a difference and for being the envy of a lot of school districts in doing the right things for the school district. Thank you for your long hours like I know my wife had a lot of long hours. Thank you for your long hours because that’s a commitment that you all have made as school board members. It is no wonder that this school board has been the example of a lot of school boards, better than the average. That’s why you’ve been recognized on the state level. You have been a great example and I know you will continue being the best that you can be. Thank you, thank you, thank you,” said Moreno.

At the end, he of course asked permission to kiss and hug his wife who no doubt was his favorite member of that “team effort.” Moreno’s words are believed to have helped end his wife’s time on the board on a positive note.

On Friday, the Seguin ISD Board of Trustees is set to canvass the election returns and administer the oath of office to Bright and the three other trustees who ran unopposed during the election. They include District 2 Trustee Alejandro Guerra; District 4 Trustee Linda Duncan and District 5 Trustee Denise Crettenden.

The board is also set to appoint a new trustee as its board secretary. The special meeting gets underway at noon Friday in the Seguin ISD Board Room.
