(San Antonio) — The rosters for the San Antonio Sports All-Star Football game have been announced and some local stand-outs on the grid-iron have been selected to the teams. Wide-out Devin Matthews and defensive lineman Jakob McLeod will represent the Seguin Matadors on the squads.
The electrifying Matthews has scored 12 touchdowns for the Mats through 6 games, 5 of those on kickoff returns to go along with 6 touchdown receptions and one rushing score. McLeod, a captain on the Seguin defense, was lost for the season with an injury in the first half of the season’s third game against Laredo United. The senior had two sacks along with a tackle for loss in two plus games before his injury.
The Marion Bulldogs had two players selected for the game, wide receiver Dominic Castellanos and linebacker Kross Kelso. Castellanos has 775 all purpose yards for the Bulldogs through 6 games this season. The senior has scored 9 TD’s including 2 fumble recoveries returned for scores playing at safety on defense. He also has an interception.
Kelso made his season debut for the Bulldogs this past Friday after missing the first 5 games of the season due to injury. The senior linebacker had 7 tackles including 4 for loss in the Bulldogs 48-6 win over the Blanco Panthers.
This season’s San Antonio Sports All-Star Football Game will be the 45th anniversary of the game featuring the area’s top seniors playing in their final high school game. The game is set to take place on Saturday, January 7th at the Alamodome and will be broadcast on KMYS-TV (channel 35).
