(Seguin) — You still have time to grab your tickets for the inaugural Art & Wine Walk in Downtown Seguin.
The Seguin Commission on the Arts be hosting the fundraiser and art award announcement this Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m.
Blaire Friar, the Seguin Main Street and CVB assistant director, says residents won’t want to miss a fun evening of wine tasting, shopping, and experiencing beautiful works of art.
“This is a new event for the Seguin Commission on the Arts. The Commission wanted to be able to showcase art to the community in a new way. We are excited for people to experience it,” said Friar.
Participants will check-in at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church to get their event wristband and wine glass. Each stop, including St. Andrew’s will feature local artists and their work. There is no set order for people to visit each stop, organizers say it is simply a leisurely evening where they can wander around downtown as they please.
“Seguin is full of so many talented artists,” says Cathy Kirk, chair of the arts commission. “With both visual and performing arts represented, there will certainly be something for everyone.”
Participants looking for live entertainment will find it at the Texas Theatre. The evening’s schedule begins at 4:30 p.m. with Craig Sorgi and Laura Scalzo from the Mid-Texas Symphony, followed by a performance from Teatro de Artes, and the musical stylings of The DeLeons.
Seguin’s two local wineries, Blue Lotus Winery & Texas Mead Works and Windmill Farm Winery will also be among the participants at the event.
Friar says the evening will culminate with the presentation of the Annual Arts Awards at the Texas Theatre at 7:15 pm. Recognized will be the Youth Artist of the Year, Art Organization of the Year, and the Outstanding Contributor to the Arts winner.
Tickets are $45 per person and will include a commemorative wine glass, heavy hors d’oeuvres, and eight wine tastings. Additional wine tastings can be purchased for $1 each.
Event sponsors include Tarpon Blue, Guadalupe Regional Medical Center, Tri-County A/C, Robin H. Roberts-Walker, Texas Lutheran University, and Don & Marty Keil.
