(Seguin) — The Seguin Lady Matador volleyball team took down Veritas Christian Academy at Goldie Harris Gym on Tuesday night in straight sets: 25-15, 25-17, 25-13. Seguin was lead by Julie Kocian who had 11 kills. Regan Schmidt added 9 kills and 7 digs. Keighly Dailey had 6 kills and 6 digs. Lizzie Suarez had 4 kills and 5 digs. Janessa Solano had 23 assists and Ashley Aguilar led in digs with 11. The Lady Mats are 16-14 on the season heading into district play on Friday. The district season opens at home for Seguin against San Antonio Wagner. First serve is set for 7 pm..
The Marion Bulldog volleyball team fell on the road Tuesday night at New Braunfels Christian Academy with the Lady Wildcats taking it in straight sets: 25-12, 25-14 and 25-15. Marion Coach Melissa Mitchell Schuetz said her team struggled with the pace of play the Lady Wildcats established at the onset of the match.
“They had a lot slower pace than us and we let that affect us in the beginning. We weren’t focused on our side, instead we were too worried about what was going on over there.”
Kylie Balderas had 5 kills. Ellery Twitero and Jaida Rideaux each had 2 blocks. Kacee McLendon lead the Bulldogs with 13 assists and Bristin Birdwell had 11 digs. Marion will open their district season Friday with a home match against Nixon-Smiley with a 7:30 first serve.
And the Navarro Lady Panther volleyball team knocked off Devine Tuesday night at home winning in 4 sets: 25-20, 25-20, 21-25 and 26-24. District play for the Lady Panthers starts Friday with a home match against Canyon Lake. First serve takes place at 6 O’clock.
