Guadalupe County turns over the hiring to new HR director

Guadalupe County turns over the hiring to new HR director

(Seguin) — After months of going through its selection process, Guadalupe County has finally named a new director of human resources. That’s according to Guadalupe County Judge Kyle Kutscher who recently directed the commissioners court in making a decision.

“I like Teresa Sazedj. She’s had county experience. She is currently working for Washington County. She comes from a background of HR in multiple places, has worked in a school district, has a business degree, a master’s and a doctorate in different fields. She is very down to earth. I think she has a good personality that will fit in with county government and if you could just say in a simple way, ‘she gets it.’ I think she will do a great job for Guadalupe County,” said Kutscher.

Kutscher says in addition to approving a new director, the court also took the steps in approving her salary.

“I know we discussed in closed session on ranges, and we posted a wider range but looking at what HR directors make is higher than what we have been paying for a long time but trying to also be consistent with what we pay some other elected and appointed officials and not over reach in that aspect and her experience and level of understanding and just how she gets county government, I think $110,000 would be a fair level of compensation based on everything that we looked at,” said Kutscher.

In addition to her duties as county treasurer Linda Douglass was also applauded by commissioners for serving as the interim HR director. Sazedj will assume her new duties in helping to fill jobs as soon as possible.
