Allan Dreibrodt Memorial Fundraiser raises money for local kids

(Seguin) — A night of fun, food and music is being offered this weekend, and it’s all in an effort to raise money to support local children. The annual Allan Dreibrodt Memorial Fundraiser will be held on Saturday at the Columbus Club Hall of Seguin.

The event is named after the late Allan Dreibrodt, who was an agriculture teacher who later became a banker. Dreibrodt always had a passion for ag related youth programs, like 4H, FFA and the Guadalupe County Youth Livestock and Homemakers Show. Dreibrodt lost his long battle against ALS a few years ago, but his memory lives on thanks to his family and friends who started the foundation to continue his work of support these programs and activities.

Brannon Dreibrodt says he thinks his dad would be proud of this new tradition that they have started. He says Saturday night’s event raises money that is then used to support local youth in a number of ways.

“My dad loved this community, so what this is basically helping out these kids who are in FFA, 4H (and) agriculture in general. It helps them to be able to raise these animals and to do things like that. With inflation and everything going as it is right now, these kids need more help than anything. It just helps these kids out. It helps them go to college. It gives them scholarships. All this money that they spend on animals — it helps them get back (some of that money), and it helps us to give back to these kids, because they meant the world to my dad and they mean the world to us,” said Brannon Dreibrodt.

Brannon Dreibrodt says people should come to the event because it’s a good time, but he says more importantly it supports a very good cause. He says they have a full night of fun planned for those who attend.

“The doors are going to open at 5 p.m. I think dinner starts at 5:30 p.m. There will be a silent auction, live auction, gun card raffles, and Gary Glenn and the 20X Band will be there playing the music. The food will be provided by Next Door Catering. It’s an absolute blast. It always is. I always put in my Facebook posts that this is the most fun you will have before you go back to school. It’s a blast. Everybody is going to spend 40 bucks on an evening out anyway. Why not take that money and put that into something that you’re going to have a blast at…and you’re giving back to the kids,” said Brannon Dreibrodt.

Tickets to the event are still available. Dreibrodt says you can call 830-305-6037 or 830-832-1476 to purchase tickets, you can get them at Gift & Gourmet, and a limited number of tickets will also be sold at the door. Tickets are $40 for people ages 13 and up; those who are seven to 12 pay $25 for their tickets; and children under the age of seven are admitted free of charge.
