Little Regional Tournament begins in Seguin


(Seguin) — Top teams from New Mexico, Colorado, Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas West, Texas East and the host team will be competing during the Little League Southwest Regional Senior Baseball Tournament.

Little League is again hosting the tournament. Seven teams in all will be participating in this year’s tourney.   

The tournament begins on Friday at Smokey Joe Williams Field at Fairgrounds Park. The public is invited to come out for the games, including for the Ceremonial First Pitch, which will be thrown at 4 p.m. on Friday. The ceremonial first pitch will be thrown by Seguin Mayor Donna Dodgen and the it will be caught by La Vernia Mayor Martin Poore.  Organizers say they have also extended an invitation to Guadalupe County Judge Kyle Kutscher to see if he is available to serve as honorary umpire for that opening pitch. 

Spectators are encouraged to check out the games. Again, the tournament begins on Friday, July 22 and runs through Thursday, July 28 at Smokey Joe Williams Field.
