(Seguin) – Local officers quickly jumped into action to protect a local campus although it was later revealed that the reported incident was occurring at a different location and in another part of the county.
In a release to its parents at Ball Early Childhood Center, district officials stated that this morning at around 10 a.m., they were advised by local law enforcement to go into precautionary lockdown due to an occurrence off campus.
However, as it turns out, school officials say law enforcement later informed them that the incident occurred in Cibolo and due to a miscommunication, Ball was somehow included.
Nonetheless, the campus was in immediate lockdown mode for approximately 5-10 minutes and based on its conversations with law enforcement, say that at no time were students or staff in danger.
Seguin PD officials say once it was revealed that the constable’s handheld radio had switched channels during a scuffle and the proper location of the constable and the suspect were obtained, then Ball school staff was advised.
Meanwhile, shortly after at around 10:10 am, Seguin PD was dispatched to Park West for a person with a weapon.
Upon arrival, officers located a male with a machete experiencing a mental health crisis. Seguin PD’s Mental Health Officer responded to the scene, and officers were able to take the male into custody without any incident, and he was transported to a mental health facility for further evaluation.
No one was injured during the incident.
