(Seguin) — Texas Lutheran University placed 66 student-athletes on the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Student-Athlete Spring Academic Honor Roll, the conference office announced Tuesday.
A total of 703 student-athletes made the list. To qualify, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.25 for the term and be a regular member of a varsity athletic team in a sport sponsored by the conference. Since its inception in the fall of 1997, almost 32,400 male and female student-athletes have been recognized for their contributions in the classroom.
Texas Lutheran Baseball and Softball each tallied double-digit honorees. Texas Lutheran Men’s Track and Field tallied eight honorees while Men’s Golf followed close behind with seven. Women’s Tennis, Women’s Track and Field, Men’s Tennis, and Women’s Golf round out the Texas Lutheran honorees with six, five, four, and two honorees respectively.
TLU had 18 SCAC All-Conference honorees from 2022 that also picked up Academic Honor Roll recognition this year. SCAC Softball Pitcher of the Year Ashlyn Strother, SCAC Softball Player of the Year Casey Martin, Softball SCAC Elite 19 winner Sydney Ouellette, PING Men’s Golf All-American Chase Maus, SCAC Men’s Golf Freshman of the Year Tobey Wills, and SCAC Men’s Track and Field Elite 19 winner Troy Stephenson headline the illustrious group that was named to the Academic Honor Roll and SCAC All-Conference teams.
In total, Texas Lutheran had 128 student-athletes earn SCAC Academic Honor Roll between the fall, winter and spring 2021-22 seasons.
