(Seguin) – It’s never too late to commit to some exercise or at least a chance to have a good time.
Registration is still being accepted for this year’s Seguin Education Foundation Race for Education 5K. The fundraising event gets underway at 9 a.m. Saturday at The Backyard, formerly the Lizzie M. Burges campus.
SEF Executive Director Kelly Follis says over 115 participants have already signed up. She says the best part is that individuals get to choose whether they want to run, walk, or stroll along this year’s route.
“The Race for Education 5K starts at The Backyard and it will wind around and get over to Park West. We will be running around Park West and then basically heading back. We will finish right inside The Backyard, and we will have music. We will have a lot of things going on there and so, it will just be a fun time. I think it’s going to be a nice route. It’s always a good day for a walk in the park or a run in the park and that’s what you are going to get with the Seguin Education 5K,” said Follis.
Awards will be given to the top finishers in each division.
Packet pick-up is scheduled for Friday, from 1 to 6:30 p.m. in the Seguin Education Foundation Office located in the Seguin ISD’s Central Office building. Race-day registration and packet pickup will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday at The Backyard followed by a pre-race warm up provided by Camp Gladiator at 8:50. Cost is $30 through Friday and $35 on race day. A raffle drawing and awards ceremony will wrap up the event at 10 a.m. The Backyard is located 225 N. Saunders St.
