Local candidates take to the airwaves in preparation of the March Primary Election

KWED Radio to feature candidates during Saturday Topic program

(Seguin) – Don’t know who to vote for in the March 1st Republican and Democratic Primary Election? Before heading to the polls, voters are encouraged to listen to this weekend’s edition of the KWED Saturday Topic Program. The radio talk show will feature the candidates appearing on the local Republican ballot. There are no contested races on the Democratic ballot.

KWED General Manager Darren Dunn will talk to each of the candidates vying for the Republican nomination in their respective county wide race.

The first of those races is Guadalupe County District Clerk. Incumbent Linda Balk faces challenger Shelly Saldivar-Sposari for the nomination. Since there is no Democratic challenger for District Clerk or in the other county races in November, whoever garners the most votes next month will essentially be declared the winner this fall.

Next is the contested race for County Clerk. Incumbent Teresa Kiel takes on Stacy A. Melton for the countywide position.

Three candidates are also campaigning for the Guadalupe County Commissioner Precinct 4 seat. Challenging Incumbent Judy Cope for that position are candidates Stephen Germann and Joel Hicks.

The final locally contested race appearing on the Republican ballot is Justice of the Peace Precinct 1. Incumbent Darrell Hunter also faces two candidates for his place at the bench. Those candidates include Kelly M. Cross and Sam “Saundra” Meyer.

The candidates each will be given an opportunity to help answer some of the voters’ questions and will wrap up their statements with why they think they are the best person for the job.

The two-hour long Saturday Topic Program airs at 7 a.m. Saturday on Seguin Radio KWED. Listen live on AM 1580 KWED or by clicking the red listen live button at SeguinToday.com.

Early voting for the Primary Election gets underway Monday in Guadalupe County. The Seguin Daily News this past week also featured each of the candidates during its Candidates Corner 2022. That online feature is available at SeguinToday.com.
