Need a COVID-19 test? Need a vaccine?

City of Seguin points residents in the right direction

(Seguin) — The Omicron variant continues to spread targeting folks left and right of us. City of Seguin officials say like most people across the country, there’s a pretty good chance that we have either fallen ill to COVID-19 these past few weeks or know someone who has. To help protect residents even more, the city of Seguin continues to do its part to make sure residents have the information they need to test and protect themselves.

Jennifer Sourdellia, the public information officer for the city of Seguin, says the latest effort is to point folks in the right direction.

“We are once again seeing a big surge of COVID cases in the city and in Guadalupe County and this latest Omicron variant is very transmissible for all ages so I know that there is people out there that are wanting to get tested or they need to get tested to go back to work or what not so finding an available test has been pretty challenging lately but we posted several links on our city of Seguin website where citizens can find COVID test locations. All you have to do is simply visit the city’s website seguintexas.gov. We have a COVID-19 information link in a green bar on our homepage at the top of the page. You can click on the testing link for information on where you can receive the COVID test. That’s a good way to try to locate a COVID test,” said Sourdellia.

The link for COVD test sites can also be found on the city of Seguin’s Facebook page.

In addition to providing information on available testing sites, Sourdellia says the city continues to encourage getting vaccinated.

“We are in constant communication with Guadalupe County and also with GRMC to kind of take a look at their hospitalization and positivity rate so we keeping track of it and the best way to protect yourself and others against COVID is to get vaccinated,” said Sourdellia.

With that said, Sourdellia says there is a vaccination clinic scheduled for this Friday. She says while vaccinations don’t’ guarantee 100 percent protection, they have proven to reduce many of the symptoms and risks associated with the virus.

“There is going to be a COVID vaccine clinic this Friday, Jan. 14. It’s going to be happening in the Seguin ISD Central Office. That’s located at 1221 E. Kingsbury. The Guadalupe County and the National Guard are hosting this clinic so we want to thank them for doing that and this clinic is going to be offering first and second doses of both Pfizer and Moderna shots. They are going to be available free of charge. There is no appointment necessary and vaccines for all ages will be available. Twelve and older will be given from noon to 6 p.m. and then the vaccines for ages 5 to 11 will be given from 2 to 6 p.m. that day. So we highly encourage you if you have not gotten your vaccine yet, please go out and get vaccinated. Again, that is the best way to protect yourself, your friends, your family and others against COVID,” said Sourdellia.

Again only first and second doses of the vaccine will be provided. Booster shots will not be available during this particular clinic on Friday. Appointments or signup are also not necessary.
