Local woman seeks District Clerk position

(Seguin) — A local woman has officially entered the race for Guadalupe County District Clerk. Shelly Sposari is seeking the Republication nomination for the position during the March 1 Primary Election.

Sposari, a resident of Guadalupe County for almost 30 years, says her decision to run is based on her desire to operate the District Courts with confidence, integrity and with a new fresh perspective.

More importantly, Sposari says she wants to reconnect with the public.

“I really miss working with the public. Having the storefront of Ups & Grounds for 15 years and then switching to online, it’s very different and I currently don’t get to visit with customers or citizens. Being out of the city (Seguin) now, we have a private location, so being out of the city, you miss everything that is going on so really, I miss public service all together. I miss the public and I miss solving problems mostly,” said Sposari.

Sposari, who currently owns and operates a small business, says she brings experience to the table having been employed over the years with various entities across the county.

“I also have public service in the past. I’ve worked for the sheriff’s department of Guadalupe County. I’ve worked for the city of Schertz. I’ve worked for the Seguin ISD and the Schertz Universal City ISD so I know how things run that way but I believe in customer service and I believe in great morale for your employees and you know, all of my employees were very well trained. They all had great customer service so that is what we emphasized on and we all knew the programs and how to treat the people that came in. I am willing to make the best if I am able to be elected,” said Sposari.

Sposari is married to husband Leon Sposari, a retired firefighter/EMT with the city of Schertz and who currently serves in the United States Navy. Together, they have three adult children and one new grandson.

Sposari is challenging current Guadalupe County District Clerk Linda Balk who has also filed for re-election. There is no Democrat candidate for the countywide position in November.
