Guadalupe County Clerk files for re-election

Guadalupe County Clerk files for re-election

(Seguin) – Guadalupe County Clerk Teresa Kiel has filed for re-election. Kiel will be seeking the Republican nomination during the March 1, 2022, Primary.

As county clerk, Kiel’s duties include the recording, indexing, and preserving the Official Public Records and Vital Records of Guadalupe County.

The county clerk also serves as Clerk of the Court to the Commissioners Court, the Constitutional County Court and the County Courts at Law which hear criminal, civil, probate, guardianship, and mental health cases.

Kiel says her responsibilities as county clerk are broad and widely varied, requiring a detailed understanding of the laws affecting those processes.

“I love what I do. What I’m doing is helping the citizens of Guadalupe County – providing a public service in the best manner possible. I think we provide excellent service and professionalism, but we help with so many things from birth records to death records, to cattle brands, renewing cattle brands and filing them and all the land records. I just love what we are doing here because we are helping and creating a history of Guadalupe County,” said Kiel.

In addition, Kiel, who is seeking her sixth term, says she has worked to keep up with the constant adaptation of changing conditions and technologies. She says with a rapidly growing county, she would like to continue to see that investment pay off.

“Wherever I’ve worked, it’s never flown by the way the last 19 years have flown by. I think that we can enhance the county clerk’s office by doing more of what we are doing. I have automated nearly all of the services in the county clerk’s office, and we are looking at doing more and more electronically and using technology to move forward,” said Kiel. “I am so grateful to the citizens of Guadalupe County for their continued support and faith in me.  I look forward to carrying on our progress in optimizing services while always remembering exactly who it is we serve – the wonderful citizens of Guadalupe County!”

Over the years, Kiel has earned numerous awards and has been recognized for her state and national leadership in record keeping including being named County Clerk of the Year in 2016 by the County & District Clerks’ Association of Texas.

Kiel’s announcement follows the Dec. 13 deadline in which candidates could file for a place on the ballot. Challenging Kiel for the Republican nomination in March is Candidate Stacy Melton.
