(Seguin) — The Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce for the 100th time has handed out its top awards in commemoration of this year’s golden anniversary banquet.
Recipients of this year’s awards were announced during Tuesday’s Annual Awards Banquet held at the Seguin Coliseum. This year’s event marked the 100th banquet for the local chamber.

Two Business Excellence Awards were presented this year. The Small Business of the Year Award went to Tri-County A/C while Guadalupe Regional Medical Center earned this year’s Large Business of the Year Award.

Earning this year’s Community Service Award was Elaine Bennett of the Guadalupe Regional Medical Foundation.

Other honorees included Kirsten Legore, the recipient of this year’s Education Partnership Award and Kasie Tankersley who was honored with the 2021 Rising Star Award.
A trio of Community Hero Awards was also extended Tuesday night. Recognized with this year’s new award were the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office, Seguin Police Officer Gabriel Aguilar and Seguin Fire Marshal Greg Dreiss. According to chamber officials, this award was added this year to acknowledge the unique quality of the past year and the effort put forth by the public servants in the law enforcement community. They say these recipients were selected by their respective departments for outstanding service during 2021.
Rounding out the list of winners was Katie Dickey. Dickey was applauded for her volunteerism and named as this year’s Ambassador of the Year.

The passing of the gavel ceremony and all of the chamber awards were presented as part of this year’s celebration. The event also helped to introduce the chamber’s new president Chester Jenke who took over the role in October. Also committing to the chamber for a consecutive year is Board Chairman Lea Phelps. Serving as this year’s keynote speaker was Gordon Hartman of the Hartman Family Foundation and most recognized for being the owner of Morgan’s Wonderland, the ultra-accessible theme park in San Antonio where everyone can play. Hartman spoke on the importance of working toward inclusion whether it be work or play.
