(Geronimo) – Navarro High School senior Jacqueline Springs finalized her commitment to join the golf program at Texas Lutheran Univesity next year during a signing event on Monday at the Navarro Events Center.
Springs finished 18th in the 4A Region IV tournament last April less than three years after taking up competitive golf as a high school freshman.
She considered multiple schools, but decided that the best fit was staying close to home and playing for TLU coaches H.C. Tran and Angela Hisey.
“I really like Coach Tran and Coach Hisey,” Springs said. “I think they’re really nice, and I like that they have a driving range on campus, and that everything is right here, so I’m still really close to my family.”
The National College Student Athlete recruiting profile on Springs lists her tournament scoring average at 84.
Springs still has her senior season at Navarro in front of her, and lists a few skills that she hopes to fine tune before she competes at the collegiate level.
“I still need to work on my wedges a lot, and my putting a lot,” Springs said. “But I think my irons are getting better, and my driver’s not too bad.”
Springs plans to pursue a degree in biology at TLU.
