(Manor) – Navarro built a 48-0 lead by halftime and never looked back in a 69-0 road romp of Manor-New Tech to open the District 14-4A-Division II football schedule on Friday.
The win pushed the Panthers’ winning streak to five games and the team’s overall record to 5-1.
Nick Billings went 4-7 through the air for 121 yards and three touchdowns. Jaxen Monkerud caught two of the touchdown passes for 100 yards, and Seth Rodriguez pulled in the other for 14 yards.
Colton Chambers ran for 109 yards and a touchdown on just six carries.
Diego Chapa added 94 yards and a score on 11 carries, and Case Monroe rushed for 92 yards and a TD on nine attempts. Cole Mouser scored the Panthers’ first two touchdowns in the opening period.
Antwoin Mebane ran for a 20 yard score in the fourth quarter, and Landon Taylor scampered in from 12 yards out to cap the game’s scoring.
Navarro’s defense held New Tech to a net of zero yards total offense on 43 snaps. The Panthers piled up 413 total yards and 24 first downs without punting the entire night.
Navarro has another open date in the schedule this week because district member Eastside Memorial is not fielding a football team this season.
The Panthers return to action in a battle that should determine the district championship when they visit Wimberley on Friday, Oct. 22.
