(Seguin) – Guadalupe County has officially lifted what might have just been its shortest burn ban ever.
After the order went into effect at 6 a.m. Wednesday, Patrick Pinder, the Guadalupe County emergency management coordinator and fire marshal, says Guadalupe County Judge Kyle Kutscher was forced to lift the burn ban at 10 a.m. Friday. He says the order was lifted after the area received an increase in rainfall all day Wednesday and Thursday.
During his request to the Guadalupe County Commissioners Court on Tuesday, Pinder stated that the county’s KBDI or drought index was at 615. That number following the rain had fallen under 500.
During the meeting, commissioners knew that rain was a strong possibility but felt that with the dry conditions at the time, they just couldn’t take the risk and moved forward with the order.
Although the burn ban has been lifted, people are still urged to use caution while burning as all state laws regarding burning procedures still apply.
