Matadors drop road match to MacArthur
(San Antonio) – Seguin volleyball suffered a 3-0 road loss to San Antonio-MacArthur on Tuesday by finals of 25-21, 25-22, and 25-14.

Keighly Dailey and Regan Schmidt each put away four kills for the Matadors.

Reese Brittain scored a team-high six points with three kills, two block assists, and one ace.

Janessa Solano set for eight assists.

Kadie Erwin led the defensive effort with eight digs.

The setback moved Seguin’s season record to 5-6. The Matadors compete in the Floresville Tournament this Friday and Saturday.

Marion volleyball sweeps Somerset after challenging stretch in Three Rivers tourney
(Marion) – The Bulldogs logged some valuable repetitions against formidable competition in the Three Rivers volleyball tournament last week and only managed two wins in nine matches, but Marion bounced back with a commanding 3-0 sweep (25-18, 25-23, 25-19) of Somerset in a home match on Tuesday.

Hayley Mabee and Kaylie Garza led the attack against Somerset with six kills apiece. Mabee also collected 10 digs.

Hailey Halter totaled five kills and 10 assists. Kacee McClendon delivered 16 assists and five service aces.

Kyla Beck led the back row with 18 digs. Garza, Jaselyne Williams, and Maggie Rudisaile each recorded one block.

Marion opened the Three Rivers tournament last Thursday with a 2-1 loss to Orange Grove, a 2-0 setback to Jourdanton, and a 2-0 win over Three Rivers.

The Bulldogs dropped a 2-1 match to Three Rivers on Saturday, fell again to Jourdanton (2-0) and Orange Grove (2-0), and concluded the day with a 2-1 win over Three Rivers.

Mabee finished the Saturday win over Three Rivers with five kills. McClendon and Halter contributed five and three assists, respectively, and Halter served for two aces.

Kira Jones produced six digs in the final tournament match, while Mabee, Halter, and McClendon had five apiece. Rudisaile recorded 1.5 blocks.

Marion’s season record is 4-5. The Bulldogs compete in the Devine Tournament this weekend.
