(Seguin) — A total of 264 people took advantage of the COVID-19 vaccine clinic held over the week at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. A majority of the vaccines were reportedly administered to area youth as the Pfizer vaccine was recently made available for 12 years of age and older. The second dose has been scheduled to be administered on June 12th between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the OLG Parish Center.
Olga Bennett, the mother of 12-year-old Miguel Bennett, was grateful for the opportunity and for the convenience of being able to get the vaccine.
“We consented for the benefit of his health and the community at large. Hoping to contribute to one step closer to our new normal,” said Olga.
That day’s First Communion services at the church also paved the way for some of the youth to get their vaccines. That was at least the case for 12-year-old Joscelyn Sanchez. Maria Godinez, who was there with Joscelyn, says the vaccine made the day even more important for her.
“Joscelyn just made her first communion this morning and since the vaccine was being offered today it made it easy for her to get vaccinated,” said Godinez.
The effort was coordinated by local resident Eddie Davila along with Deana Henk, GRMC; Patrick Pinder, Guadalupe County emergency manager coordinator and Greg Dreiss, Seguin Fire Marshal.
