Spring Fling returns tonight

Seguin, TX, USA / Seguin Today

Spring Fling returns tonight

(Seguin) – Tickets are still available for you to get in on the action
of tonight’s Seguin Noon Lions Club Spring Fling. The Spring Fling
will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Silver Center parking lot.

Lion Bill Klingemann says although things will be a bit different, the
fundraiser will still feature all of your favorite events.

“This year because again of COVID restrictions, we are doing things a little different than we have in years gone by in that it will be
strictly a to-go only of our famous pork steak dinners. We will also
be having a raffle and we will also be having bug races but those last
two things, they won’t be open to the public just because of COVID
restrictions but the to-go dinner, that’s going to be there and that’s
going to be great as it always has been of wonderful pork steaks made by Troy Brown, Next Door Catering and anybody who has been to our event before knows how good they are and if you haven’t been to our event before, boy are you missing out so I’d get down there this time,” said Klingemann.

The event’s electronic bug races will also run a bit different this
year. Although they will not be held in front of a crowd, Lion Mike
Wilson says the races will still offer great prizes for winners.

“They are little electronic bugs that run on a track and we divide
those into heats of 10 and each winner of the heat gets a $25 gift
card. It cost $10 per bug to enter and we usually end up having a
run-off between all the heats and get two semi-champions and then go for a championship and that bug wins a $100 gift card so it’s a pretty exciting race whenever the race,” said Wilson.

This year’s fundraiser will also include the annual raffle. Tickets
are $1 each or 15 for $10. Some of the raffle prizes include but are
not limited to a half of an Angus Steer plus its processing, a $300
VISA card; four rounds of golf at Max Starcke Park; and a three month membership to GRMC’s Wellness Center.

Lion Pat Sagebiel says it was just in September when the group hosted last year’s Spring Fling. He says this year, the group is proud to return the fundraiser it to its regular schedule in April. Sagebiel
says cancelling the fundraiser is not an option for the group.

“All of our proceeds go to wonderful causes, most of them are youth
oriented whether they be ball games or the Crippled Children’s Camp in Kerrville which is now catering also to blind as well as diabetic (children) and even adults are now, we are finding a use for all of those to use our wonderful camp,” said Sagebiel.

Plate tickets are $12 pre-sale or $15 at the door. Ticket locations
include Dietz Flower Shop; Starcke Furniture, Ascot’s Custom Travel
and Tri County Air. Tickets can also be purchased from any club member.
