Elementary, Secondary Teacher of the Year winners named in the Seguin ISD

(Seguin) — The Seguin ISD has announced its top teachers for the 2018-2019 school year. Named as this year’s Seguin ISD Elementary Teacher of the Year is Candyce Hartmann of Rodriguez Elementary School. Hartmann is a fourth grade math and science teacher.

Hartmann says she is honored for the recognition and has enjoyed her four years in education at the local campus.

“I’m just proud to represent Seguin and it’s my hometown and I feel like everyday, I get to give back and to be recognized is an honor and so I’m just proud to be this year’s Elementary Teacher of the Year,” said Hartmann.

Selected as this year’s Seguin ISD Secondary Teacher of the Year is Laci Stamm, of A.J. Briesemeister Middle School. The 6th grade math teacher, who has worked at Briesemeister for the last fives years, says like Hartmann, she too is honored to be serving and giving back to her own community.

“I’m just blessed and thankful to be a part of Seguin ISD. I’m a Seguin girl, graduated in ’05 and I’m just very happy for the good things that are going on. There’s great things happening here,” said Stamm.

Both Hartmann and Stamm were awarded their titles during Wednesday night’s annual Seguin ISD Teacher of the Year Banquet held at the Seguin High School Performing Arts Center. Both were selected from a group of other Teacher of the Year winners — each named by their respective campuses. Both now go on to represent the district in the area contest.

The Seguin ISD this week also recognized its annual 25, 30, 35 and 40 year service award recipients along with several employees who have elected to retire at the end of this school year.
