(Seguin) – The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference named its first Men’s and Women’s Basketball Players of the Week for the 2020-21 season and included a pair of Texas Lutheran student-athletes on the accompanying list of outstanding performers.
The Women’s Player of the Week award went to Austin College’s Ally Longaker, who averaged 15.5 points on 63.6 percent shooting, 10 rebounds, and 3.5 blocks in a pair of wins over the University of Dallas.
TLU’s Olivia Balderas made the list of outstanding performers. The senior guard averaged an SCAC-best 17.0 points per game, with consecutive career highs of 16 and 18 in road wins over Centenary. She leads the conference in made three pointers as well after draining 10 of her 15 attempts.
The Men’s Player of the Week award went to Austin College’s Kam Hogan. He averaged 22 points on 50 percent shooting, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists to help the Kangaroos sweep two games against Dallas.
TLU forward Caleb Lister was named among the conference’s outstanding performers. The senior averaged 12.5 points and eight rebounds in the Bulldogs 1-1 road split against Centenary.
Both Texas Lutheran basketball teams have the open date in their schedules this week. The Bulldogs return to SCAC action next weekend, Jan. 29-30, with Friday and Saturday home games against Trinity at Jim Schuler Court/ Memorial Gym.
The TLU – Trinity games on Friday, Jan. 29 will air live on KWED 1580-AM and Seguintoday.com, with streaming video at www.tlubulldogs.com. The women’s game starts at 5 p.m., and the men play at 8 p.m.
