Seguin PD says Man severely beaten during attack

(Seguin) — Seguin police detectives are still trying to piece together details behind an attack that left a local man severely beaten. Police say three people have now been arrested in connection with the case. The arrests are tied to an incident that occurred around 11:55 p.m. last Sunday.

According to reports, the victim is a 25-year old man from Seguin. He was allegedly picked up by several acquaintances and taken to a home in Seguin. Once there, the suspects then immediately began to severely beat the man, using a variety weapons. Police say the attack was unprovoked, and well coordinated by the suspects, who clearly intended to cause bodily harm to the victim.

The victim, who’s name is not being released, suffered multiple broken bones to his face and hands, and also suffered more serious injuries to other parts of his body.

Detectives were able to track down the people believed to be responsible for the attack, and they say all three have been arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon — which is a second degree felony.

The suspects, all from Seguin, are identified as Robert John Hernandez, 31; Matthew Lee DeLaCruz, 26; and Silvia Felan DeLaCruz, 44.

Police say all three suspects remain behind bars at the Guadalupe County Jail. They are each being held in lieu of $100,000 bond.

The investigation into the case is ongoing, and anyone with information about the crime should contact the Seguin Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division at 830-379-2123. Tips can also be submitted anonymously by calling the Guadalupe County Crime Stoppers Hotline at 877-403-8477

The victim continues to try to recover from his injuries. He was originally taken to Guadalupe Regional Medical Center in Seguin, but due to the severity of his injuries, he was transferred to University Hospital in San Antonio. As of this writing, the 25-year old victim’s condition had not been released.
