Geronimo Lions First Friday Feast

The Geronimo Lions will host its First Friday Feast from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, at the Red Barn. Grilled steak or fried fish plates with sides, a drink and dessert are $20. The Wyatt and Bill Show will provide live entertainment. Proceeds benefit the Geronimo Volunteer Fire Department. Meals will be served while supplies last.

Goodbye Summer Art Show Entries

The Seguin Art League is accepting entries for its Goodbye Summer Art Show from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 5. The show is open to artists ages 18 and older, with cash prizes awarded in several categories. Entry forms and complete details are available at the gallery during regular hours. The reception and awards ceremony for its Goodbye Summer Art Show from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9. Refreshments will be served, and prizes will be awarded. The artwork will remain on display and available for purchase through Saturday, Oct. 10.

Greater Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church Men and Women’s Day

Greater Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church will celebrate its Annual Men and Women’s Day on Sunday, September 6, at 2 p.m. Special guests will be the Rev. John Saunders and Rising Star Baptist Church of Nixon.

Texan in Blue” Book Signing and Presentation

The Seguin Heritage Museum will host a book signing and historical presentation on Francis A. Vaughan, a Guadalupe County resident who fought for the Union during the Civil War. The free event will be held Tuesday, Sept. 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. at 114 N. River St. Refreshments will be served.

White House with Blue Curtain Watercolor Class

The Seguin Art League will offer a beginner watercolor class with artist Cat Bollinger from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9. Participants will learn impressionistic architecture and shadowing techniques. The class is limited to four people, and all materials are provided. The cost is $45. McQueeney VFW All-You-Can-Eat Breakfast

McQueeney VFW Post 9213 will host an All-You-Can-Eat Breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12 at the VFW Post, 275 Gallagher Road in McQueeney. Veterans and first responders eat free. The cost is $10 for everyone age 10 and older. The event will also recognize Patriot’s Day and remember the events of Sept. 11.

Mid-Texas Symphony Announces 2026-27 Season

The Mid-Texas Symphony has announced its 49th concert season, featuring seven performances in Seguin and New Braunfels. The season opens with “Anton Nel Plays Beethoven” Sunday, Sept. 13, at Jackson Auditorium in Seguin. Additional concerts are scheduled for Nov. 8, Dec. 13, Jan. 31, Feb. 28, April 11 and April 25. Seguin Chamber Annual Banquet & Awards Presentation

The Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce will host its 2026 Annual Banquet & Awards Presentation from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16 at the Seguin Coliseum. This year’s theme is “Prosperity Through Partnership.” The event is presented by Guadalupe Regional Medical Center. Mini Mats Cheer Clinic

The Seguin High School Cheerleaders will host the Mini Mats Cheer Clinic from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Seguin High School Student Activities Center. Registration/check-in begins at 8 a.m. Cost is $35 by Sept. 11 or $40 Sept. 12-19. Registration includes the clinic, a T-shirt and participation in the SHS Community Pep Rally on Sept. 23. Judah First Volume 4 Musical

The Greater Refuge Choir presents Judah First Volume 4 on Saturday, September 19, at 3 p.m. at Greater Refuge Church, 410 N. Guadalupe St. in Seguin. The afternoon will feature fellowship and worship with the Seguin community and surrounding area. Attendees are encouraged to dress casually and represent their church by wearing a church T-shirt. Destination Seguin and the Seguin Main Street Program are accepting entries for the 2026 Scarecrow and Skeleton Window Contest. Fall Stream Cleanup Scheduled for October 3

Help protect local waterways by volunteering at the 7th Annual Geronimo and Alligator Creeks Fall Stream Cleanup on Saturday, October 3. Volunteers will meet from 9 a.m. to noon at either the Seguin ISD Irma Lewis Outdoor Learning Center, 1865 E. U.S. Highway 90 in Seguin, or the Oak Creek Estates Pool parking lot, 250 Escarpment Road in New Braunfels. The event is free and open to individuals, families, businesses, schools, churches and community groups. Volunteers will receive breakfast tacos, coffee, an event T-shirt and cleanup supplies. Big Red Barn Pecan Fest

The Texas Agricultural Education & Heritage Center will host its Big Red Barn Pecan Fest on Saturday, October 24, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 250 Cordova Road in Seguin. Activities include a visit to the world’s largest pecan, tours of the heritage village, hayrides, an antique tractor pull and the annual pecan baking contest. Admission and parking are free, with a free trolley available to downtown Pecan Fest activities.

Seguin Rotary Club Hosts “Rock the Fright” Event

The Seguin Rotary Club will host Rock the Fright: A Rotary Halloween Bash Thursday, Oct. 29 at The School Yard, 225 N. Saunders St. in Seguin. The event includes a cornhole tournament beginning at 5 p.m., a VIP dinner at 6 p.m. and a concert featuring Mischief Soul at 7 p.m. There will also be a costume contest and 50/50 raffle. Proceeds benefit Rotary’s polio eradication efforts, education initiatives and community projects.

Fishing Workshops
The Seguin Parks and Recreation Department is hosting two Fishing Workshops on Tuesday, August 4 and Tuesday, August 11 at the SISD-Irma Lewis Outdoor Learning Center, located at 1865 East U.S. Highway 90. Workshop one on August 4 will focus on learning to fish, while workshop two on August 11 will cover advanced fishing skills. Sessions are available for grades 3 and 4 from 4 to 5:15 p.m., and grades 5 and 6 from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. The cost is $5 per participant for each workshop. Free Mulch for Seguin Residents

Free wood chip mulch is available to residents within the Seguin city limits through the City of Seguin Public Works Department while supplies last. Mulch may be picked up from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at 634 Fred Byrd Drive. Residents must bring shovels, gloves and containers if self-loading. The Community Council of South Central Texas is accepting applications for utility bill assistance through the Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program (CEAP). Household Hazardous Waste Collection Service Underway in Seguin

Seguin residents now have a safe and convenient way to dispose of household hazardous waste in the city of Seguin. The city has launched an at-your-door collection service. The service is available to residents who receive City garbage collection, with scheduled pickups taking place every Monday between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. at participating homes in Seguin. The program allows residents to properly dispose of items such as automotive fluids, paints, chemicals, household cleaners, and small electronics while helping protect public health and the environment. Refuge III Clothing Ministry Free Giveaway

REFUGE III Clothing Ministry continues giving away free clothing for adults, children, and babies, along with accessories, some furniture, dishes, and a limited amount of non-perishable food items. City of Seguin Reopens BIG Program with New Funding

The City of Seguin will be hosting the reopened Business Improvement Grant (BIG) Program following the approval of additional funding. The grant offers up to 75 percent reimbursement, with a maximum of $10,000, for qualifying business improvements such as façade upgrades, signage, and equipment additions. Free Accredited Adult Homeschool Program

The Life Changing Church is now offering a Free Accredited Homeschool Program for adults wanting to earn their high school diploma. It is a self-paced, no classes to attend program. The Seguin Unit Salvation Army office is located at 205 North King Street. The office is open to receive requests for assistance weekly from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

The Guadalupe Valley Young Marines need volunteers. They promote a healthy, drug-free program and need males, 19 years and up who would like to see the program grow by contributing time to help future citizens, boys and girls 8 to 18.
