Jury Cancellation Notice

Guadalupe County residents summoned for District Court jury selection scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Monday, May 4 are advised that jury duty has been cancelled. Those who received a summons do not need to appear and should disregard their jury notice.

Texas Opioid Prevention Program for Students

Texas A&M Health will host a community conversation and educational presentation on opioid prevention at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 5 at the Irma Lewis Outdoor Learning Center, 1865 E. U.S. Highway 90 in Seguin. The program will focus on the youth fentanyl crisis, including how young people encounter fentanyl, prevention resources, and ways the community can help create a safer environment.

Small Business Resource Fair Seeks Exhibitors and Invites Public

The Seguin Economic Development Corporation, Seguin Main Street, and the Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce will host a Small Business Resource Fair from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at the Seguin Coliseum, 950 S. Austin Street in Seguin. Local businesses, organizations, and service providers are invited to sign up as exhibitors and connect with entrepreneurs seeking guidance and resources. The public is also encouraged to attend and learn about tools, programs, and support available to help small businesses grow and succeed. Seguin Noon Lions Club Spring Fling

The Seguin Noon Lions Club will host its Spring Fling from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 7 at the Silver Center, 510 East Court Street in Seguin. This drive-thru only event will feature a pork steak dinner catered by Troy Brown’s Next Door Catering, with tickets available in advance or at the door. Raffle tickets will also be available for a chance to win prizes.

Blood Drive Coming to Seguin Coliseum

The City of Seguin and the South Texas Blood & Tissue Center are teaming up for a community blood drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, May 7 in the Seguin Coliseum parking lot. The blood drive is open to the entire community. Donors must be at least 16 years old, weigh 120 pounds and present a signed parental consent form, or be 17 or older and weigh at least 110 pounds. Donors should be in good general health and present a valid photo ID. All donors will receive a free tote bag. Foster Care Month Highlights Need for Local Families

May is National Foster Care Month, and SJRC Texas | Belong is recognizing the vital role foster caregivers play in the lives of children who have experienced abuse or neglect. Foster families provide more than just safety and stability — they offer nurturing homes, healthy family dynamics, and support that can leave a lasting impact well into adulthood. National Day of Prayer Observance

The Guadalupe County Ministerial Association will host a National Day of Prayer observance at noon Thursday, May 7 in Seguin City Park. The 30-minute gathering is open to the public, and all are invited to attend.

Guada-Coma ICA Chapter Meeting

The Guada-Coma Chapter of the Independent Cattlemen’s Association of Texas will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 18 at Seguin Cattle Company, 2424 State Highway 46 in Seguin. All producers are welcome to attend. The meeting will include chapter scholarship awards, state convention delegate designations, a beef meal, and door prizes. RSVP by Friday, May 15.

Badges, Bikes & Tykes Set for May 16

The Seguin Police Department and Seguin Fire Department will host the annual Badges, Bikes & Tykes event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 16 at Max Starcke Park East. The free, family-friendly event includes lunch, games, prizes, and chances for kids 16 and under to win a bicycle or skateboard, while meeting local first responders. Guadalupe County Bulk Clean-Up, May 16

Guadalupe County invites residents to take part in the County’s Bulk Clean-up Event scheduled for Saturday, May 16, from 7:30 to 11:30 AM at the Road & Bridge Department. The event entrance is at 3100 N. Austin St., at the intersection of Austin and North Guadalupe Street in Seguin. This is a free opportunity for residents to dispose of waste and help create a safer, healthier environment. Residents are asked to bring a photo ID or utility bill.

Free Mulch for Seguin Residents

Free wood chip mulch is available to residents within the Seguin city limits through the City of Seguin Public Works Department while supplies last. Mulch may be picked up from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at 634 Fred Byrd Drive. Residents must bring shovels, gloves and containers if self-loading. Energy Assistance Available

The Community Council of South Central Texas is accepting applications for utility bill assistance through the Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program (CEAP). Funding is limited and available in select counties, including Guadalupe County. Apply online at ccsct.org/utility-assistance-apply-for-services/ and schedule an appointment with your county office. An appointment does not guarantee assistance.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection Service Underway in Seguin

Seguin residents now have a safe and convenient way to dispose of household hazardous waste in the city of Seguin. The city has launched an at-your-door collection service. The service is available to residents who receive City garbage collection, with scheduled pickups taking place every Monday between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. at participating homes in Seguin. The program allows residents to properly dispose of items such as automotive fluids, paints, chemicals, household cleaners, and small electronics while helping protect public health and the environment. Refuge III Clothing Ministry Free Giveaway

REFUGE III Clothing Ministry continues giving away free clothing for adults, children, and babies, along with accessories, some furniture, dishes, and a limited amount of non-perishable food items. City of Seguin Reopens BIG Program with New Funding

The City of Seguin will be hosting the reopened Business Improvement Grant (BIG) Program following the approval of additional funding. The grant offers up to 75 percent reimbursement, with a maximum of $10,000, for qualifying business improvements such as façade upgrades, signage, and equipment additions. CCSCT Utility Assistance Application for 2024

Applications are available for the Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program (C.E.A.P.) provided by the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs through the CCSCT.  The program will help low-income consumers reduce their utility bills. Volunteer Van Drivers Needed

Guadalupe County Veteran Services Office is in great need of volunteer van drivers. Even those who can only commit to one day per month. Volunteers will drive local veterans who have no transportation to their VA medical appointments in San Antonio. To volunteer, call 830-303-4188 ext. 1249.

Precious Life Services is accepting new clients who may need help with Anger Management, Parenting Skills, Christian Counseling, Group and Family Therapy, Anxiety and Depression, etc. Appointments are available in-office, by Zoom or Teleconference by calling 830-372-5980.

Free Accredited Adult Homeschool Program

The Life Changing Church is now offering a Free Accredited Homeschool Program for adults wanting to earn their high school diploma. It is a self-paced, no classes to attend program. You work around your schedule and at the end of the program you will receive an accredited diploma that is acceptable for college. Tutors are available at no charge. Salvation Army Office 

The Seguin Unit Salvation Army office is located at 205 North King Street. The office is open to receive requests for assistance weekly from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Volunteers Needed

The Guadalupe Valley Young Marines need volunteers. They promote a healthy, drug-free program and need males, 19 years and up who would like to see the program grow by contributing time to help future citizens, boys and girls 8 to 18. La Trinidad Blessing Box – Food Pantry

The La Trinidad United Methodist Church invites you to “Take what you need, Bring what you can, and above all be Blessed!” by its Blessing Box Food Pantry located at the corner of the church at 306 E. Gonzales St. in Seguin. The Blessing Box is filled with items to help those in need.
