KWED announces football broadcast schedule for 2020 high school season

(Seguin) – Seguin radio station KWED has released its play-by-play broadcast schedule for the 2020 high school football season.

If each area team’s current schedule plays out according to plan, the station will broadcast a total of 18 regular season games on AM-1580 and online at Seguintoday.com.

The schedule is fluid and subject to change due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

All 10 Seguin Matador games will be on the air, in addition to Navarro’s Sept. 4 (@ La Vernia), Sept. 11 (vs. Needville), and Sept. 18 (@ Cuero) contests, and Marion’s Aug. 28 (@ Hondo), Oct. 9 (@ Cotulla), Oct. 22 (vs. Poteet), Oct. 27 (@ Randolph), and Nov. 7 (@ S.A.-Cole) games.

Mike McBride and Ivy Meehan, winners of the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters Award for Best Play-by-Play, return as KWED’s football broadcast crew.

McBride enters his 15th season as the play-by-play voice of the Matadors, Panthers, and Bulldogs. Meehan begins her fourth year behind the microphone as the color analyst.

Live pre-game coverage from the stadium starts 30 minutes before the kickoff of each game, and will include a pre-game interview with the featured team’s head coach. Coaches’ shows for the other schools will precede the live broadcast when they play on the same day.
