(Luling) — An Austin man has been taken into custody for the murder of two teenagers in neighboring Caldwell County.
Officials with the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office say 34-year-old Bryan Haynes, of Austin, has been charged with the capital murder of 18-year old Klayton Manning, of Luling, and his 16-year-old cousin, whose name has not officially been released. The teenaged boys were reportedly “gunned down” at approximately 6 p.m. Tuesday in the 4400 block of Tenney Creek Road near Luling.
According to Caldwell County sheriff’s investigators, it appears as though the two young men were shot while driving down the roadway in a Polaris utility vehicle.
Haynes was arrested yesterday at an Austin residence, with the assistance of the Texas Rangers, the U.S. Marshal’s Service, the Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office and the Austin Police Department.
Haynes is being held in the Caldwell County Jail on capital murder charges. He is being held in lieu of a $500,000.00 bond. Haynes is the only suspect in this case, but officials their investigation is ongoing.
Many here in Guadalupe County were saddened by the news as many say they knew the young men and their families.
