Employers looking to fill Seguin positions this Thursday

(Seguin) —  Approximately 20 employers will all be under one roof this Thursday looking to fill immediate openings in a diverse range of job skills.

The employers have all been invited to participate in the Seguin Economic Development Corporation Winter Job Fair. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at Texas Lutheran University’s Jackson Park Student Activity Center.

Josh Schneuker, executive director of the Seguin Economic Development Corporation (SEDC), says the event is being hosted in alliance with local businesses looking to fill their vacancies with skilled employees.

“It’s strictly going to be Seguin businesses in attendance at this job fair so we are wanting to get folks who might be actively looking for work or maybe looking for a career change. They have the opportunity to come out and the meet directly with a lot of representatives that will be in attendance with Seguin based companies. This is just a little bit more Seguin focused, I guess. (That’s) the biggest difference than some of the most previous job fairs that we have had previously,” said Schneuker.

Schneuker says the employers will be hiring for entry, intermediate and advanced-level positions.

“We’ll have manufacturing, some government related jobs, education, healthcare so really not focused on any specific industry but we wanted to invite a lot of our major employers within the area to come out in an effort to fill some of those open positions that they have,” said Schneuker.

Schneuker says potential employees are encouraged to come dressed and be prepared for any possible on site job interviews.

He says the city is especially excited about hosting the job fair on the TLU campus.

“We are going to have signage on both the Fleming and the Kingsbury intersection and then also the Fleming Drive and Court Street intersections to try and get some the attentions of folks that maybe they don’t know about it and are driving down the street and want to just kind of pop in. So just in terms of access, this might be one of our better locations that we have ever had a job fair at so fingers cross that it all works out,” said Schneuker. The job fair will be held on Thursday at the TLU Student Activity Center located at 824 Fleming Dr.

The center is located directly across the street from Bulldog Stadium.
