(Seguin) — “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas” in the City of Seguin. The crowds gathered and started their holiday season with Seguin’s Holiday Stroll, a three-day event that started and ended with everyone spreading holiday cheers.
On Thursday, Nov. 28, thousands lined along the streets of downtown to watch the anticipated lighted holiday parade. This year, there were more than 70 floats showing off their holiday décor. The winning floats were:
Commercial Category:
1st Place-Seguin Electric Department
2nd Place- DJ Chuko
3rd Place-Kolbe Flower Shop
Non-Commercial Category:
1st Place- Church of God Holiness
2nd Place- Navarro High School Cheerleaders
3rd Place-Guadalupe Agricultural Fair Queen’s Court
A huge thanks to the organizations that took part in adding festive Christmas trees in Central Park. The winning trees were Guadalupe County Aggie Moms in first place, Advanced Home Health in Second, Leap Ahead Learning in Third Place and Bling received Honorable Mention.
The celebration continued onto Friday evening’s Sip n’ Stroll, where this year there were 40 chocolatiers serving samples of hot cocoa to large crowds of revelers in downtown Seguin. Judges had the difficult task of tasting cocoa in categories of milk chocolate, white chocolate, dark chocolate and unique.
The best milk was awarded to Thunderpaws Canine Solutions; Best Dark Chocolate was awarded to Morris & Bermudez; Best White Chocolate was awarded to Schertz Seguin Local Government Corporation; Most Unique was awarded to Kimber Grace Boutique; and the Most Creatively Named Cocoa and People’s Choice was awarded to Lone Star Home Solutions with “Shimmy, Shimmy, Cocoa What?!”.
The fun in downtown continued on Saturday, Dec. 1 with the Jingle Bell 5K and North Pole Stroll. Over 60 runners filled the morning air with the sound of bells as they ran from Central Park along the Walnut Springs Trail. After the run, Central Park was filled with kids activities including cookie decorating, ornament decorating, letters to Santa, wagon rides and more.
Seguin Main Street hopes that you were able to make it out and experience the festivities and holiday fun for yourself. Be sure to make plans to attend the Holiday Stroll 2019 on December 5 – 7.
The Holiday Stroll is produced in cooperation with the Downtown Business Alliance of Seguin, the Seguin Main Street Program, Seguin Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Seguin Parks and Recreation Department. Holiday Stroll would not be possible without the work of dedicated volunteers and the financial support of this year’s sponsors Seguin CVB, Guadalupe Regional Medical Center, LoneStar Home Solutions, CMC Steel Texas, Alligator Dental, TownPlace Suites, GVEC, Morris and Bermudez, Hexel, First United Bank, the Schoenvogel Family, and the Koehler Company.
