SPD still seeking clues for unsolved missing persons’ cases

Seguin, TX, USA / Seguin Today

(Seguin) — Whether it has been one year or 26 years, people who go missing are never forgotten. That’s especially true for the Seguin Police Department which has been recently working with the families of at least two different residents — each who separately went missing from this community. Together, the hope is that new leads will help bring them home.

The most recent case is that of Rosa Maria Shipley. Seguin Police detectives say Shipley is a 69-year old Hispanic female that was reported missing from her home on May 15, 2017. She was reportedly last seen at her residence. Shipley is described as having brown eyes and black hair, standing 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighing 155 pounds. Her date of birth is Sept. 16, 1949. Detectives say they have spent time following up on leads that Shipley may be living in the Salt Lake City, Utah area but still have been unsuccessful in finding her.

Seguin Police are also hoping to learn more on the whereabouts of a much older missing person’s case. The case is that of Refugio Isaguirre, 82, who went missing on Jan. 5, 1992. Missing for 26 years, Isaguirre would now be 108-years-old. While he’s likely deceased by this time, detectives say the family is still seeking closure in their father’s disappearance from Nesbit Nursing Home. They say Isaguirre reportedly walked away from the nursing home. According to reports, Isaguirre was last seen on Jan. 5 1992 at 1:30 a.m. He was reported missing later on that day at 8:50 p.m.

Like Shipley’s case, detectives followed up on several leads that were received shortly after his disappearance but none of them proved successful in at least knowing what happened.

Police officials say although much time has passed, the department is committed to keeping these cases open especially for their loved ones. They say this time of year is especially difficult for families who face these types of loss.

They ask that anyone with information on the either one of these cases contact the Seguin Police Department at 830-379-2123.
