(Seguin) — With the Guadalupe County Fair and PRCA Rodeo just around the corner, organizers are reminding community members that there is still time to get involved.
The Guadalupe County Fair Association is looking for volunteers to help with the many events and activities taking place during this year’s fair, scheduled for Oct. 8–11.
Gail Damerau of the Guadalupe County Fair Association says the process is designed to make it easy for people who may be interested in volunteering but aren’t sure where they fit in.
“We always are looking for volunteers,” said Damerau. “So, our volunteers can go out to our GCfair.org website, and we have a volunteer tab, and in that tab, it’ll push you over, and you can complete the form, and mark which areas of the fair you’re interested in helping in.”
Once the form is submitted, fair organizers will follow up with volunteers and help connect them with a specific area or committee.
Damerau says new volunteers will also have an opportunity to meet with organizers before the fair to learn more about their responsibilities.
“We’ll have a volunteer pre-fair kind of meet up and kind of go over the details of what you would be doing and give you a fair T-shirt and those kind of things like that,” said Damerau.
She says volunteers can indicate on the form which events or areas they would prefer to work. Those who already know which committee interests them can also contact that committee directly using the information provided in the fair catalog.
“If there’s a certain area you’re interested in, you can just mark that on your form and then we will get back with you and put you with those committee people,” Damerau said.
The Guadalupe County Fair runs Oct. 8-11, with pre-fair activities beginning this coming weekend. Community members interested in volunteering can visit gcfair.org and select the volunteer tab to complete a volunteer form.
