GEORGETOWN, Texas — Texas Lutheran Volleyball rallied after dropping the first set to beat Hardin-Simmons to open the 2026 SU Invitational,14-25, 25-11, 25-20, 25-21, Friday morning at the Robertson Center on the campus of Southwestern University.
The Bulldogs improved to 4-2 on the season and will face George Fox later this afternoon with the match slated to start at 2:30 PM. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
Ava Search (Richmond/Needville) led Texas Lutheran with 14 kills and added a team-high 16 digs to go along with an ace for her third double-double already this season. Zaria Solis (Burnet/Burnet) finished with 12 kills and hit .267 in the match while adding a block defensively.
Nadia Dunn (Houston/Pearland) finished with ten kills, seven digs, and two blocks.
Addison Gallegos (Floresville/Jourdanton) dished out 17 assists and added 12 digs for her third double-double while adding a team-high three service aces. Aleena Zuniga (McAllen/SharylandPioneer) narrowly missed a double-double of her own, finishing with 16 assists and nine digs.
Kieryn Adams (Schulenburg/Schulenburg) and Naomi Gamboa (San Antonio/Warren) finished with 13 digs each with Adams adding six assists.
Hardin-Simmons took the first set, closing the set on a 12-3 run, for a 25-14 win. The Bulldogs committed six attack errors and hit .111 in the first set.
Texas Lutheran bounced back in a big way in the second set, cruising to a comfortable 25-11 win to even the match at one set apiece. The Bulldogs hit .308 in the second set with Search and Solis leading the way with four kills each. Gallegos owned the service line adding three service aces in the set.
The Bulldogs grabbed the lead with a 25-20 third set win, behind five kills by Search.
TLU put the match away with a 25-20 fourth set win.
