Deputies fatally shoot man during domestic disturbance in Guadalupe County

(Seguin) — A man is dead after Guadalupe County sheriff’s deputies say they found him holding a knife to a woman’s neck during an early morning domestic disturbance. The shooting happened shortly before 3 a.m. today (Thursday) at a Seguin area home, located in the 400 block of Hurst Lane.

According to the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the home at approximately 2:43 a.m. after a man called 911 to report a disturbance. During the call, the man reportedly told dispatchers, “he is going to kill her.”

Deputies arrived about seven minutes later and heard screaming coming from inside the home. They entered the residence and reportedly found a man holding a knife to a woman’s neck.

The Sheriff’s Office says deputies ordered the man to drop the knife, but he allegedly refused. Deputies then opened fire, striking the man and he died from his injuries.

The woman was not injured, and no deputies or other people inside the home were hurt.

The names of those involved have not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

The Texas Rangers have been called in to investigate the shooting. The Rangers will serve as the lead agency in the investigation.
