(Seguin) — Garrick Herbert is officially the new chief of the Seguin Fire Department.
Herbert took the oath of office Monday evening during a swearing-in ceremony at the Seguin Public Library. A standing-room-only crowd of firefighters, city leaders, family members and community supporters gathered to recognize Herbert as the department’s new leader.
Herbert was selected by City Manager Steve Parker following the retirement of longtime Fire Chief Dale Skinner. He previously served as the department’s assistant fire chief and brings more than 31 years of municipal fire service experience to the position.
As fire chief, Herbert will oversee all fire and EMS operations while helping guide the continued growth of the department, including the development of the city’s planned Fire Station No. 4, which will become the city’s first fire station located north of Interstate 10.
