(Seguin) — A Broadway classic is making its way to Seguin this weekend as Christian Community Theater brings Fiddler on the Roof to the stage at Texas Lutheran University’s Jackson Auditorium.

The production, presented by Christian Community Theater (CCT), a program of Christian Youth Theater (CYT), will be performed today through Sunday, Aug. 2.

Megan Gullion, artistic director for CYT, says the organization is dedicated to helping young people grow both on and off the stage.

“We are part of Christian Community Theater, which is a program of Christian Youth Theater. We’re based out of New Braunfels, Texas, and we provide quality theater arts training for mostly kids, but then in the summertime, we do community shows where we get to include adults as well,” said Gullion.

Gullion says this year’s summer production is one she hopes audiences of all ages will enjoy.

“The show is all about faith, love, family and tradition, and it’s a great show to take the whole family to,” said Gillian.

Plus, she says there’s just something special about experiencing live theater together.

“It’s so much fun to see live theater in such a beautiful space and we just hope that everyone will come out and see the show and support our amazing cast,” said Gullion.

Beyond this weekend’s performances, Gullion says the organization offers opportunities for local families interested in theater arts throughout the year.

“So in the summertime, when we get to do our community theater productions, we usually have auditions for that in the spring,” said Gullion. “And if you’re a student, from the ages of 4 to 18, we have classes year-round. Starting in the fall, we actually have classes registering right now.”

She says students between the ages of 8 and 18 also have the opportunity to audition for upcoming productions.

“And if you are between the ages of 8 and 18, you can audition for our shows,” said Gullion. “In the fall, we have two shows coming up. We’ve got Hadestown: Teen Edition. That show’s for our teens ages 13 to 18. And then we have The Little Mermaid Jr., which will be for ages 8 to 18.”

CYT’s mission is to develop character and creativity through quality theater arts training that brings families and communities together while reflecting Jesus.

Performances of Fiddler on the Roof are scheduled for 7 p.m. July 31, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Aug. 1, and 3 p.m. Aug. 2 at TLU’s Jackson Auditorium.

Advance tickets are available online, with tickets also available at the door. To learn more about future performances, classes and auditions visit the organization at CYTSanAntonio.org/shows.
