Burton Riebe, 88, of Kingsbury, Texas, passed away on October 28, 2026. He was born in San Antonio, Texas, on August 8, 1938, and had been a proud resident of Kingsbury since 1974.
Burton graduated from Jefferson High School in San Antonio in 1956. Shortly after graduating, he met the love of his life, Patricia “Pat” Roberts, whom he married in 1962. He started his own television repair shop located on Flores Street, which he operated until the mid-1970s. After selling the business, Burton and Pat relocated to Kingsbury to run the Riebe Ranch. Over the years, he and Pat built many homes around Guadelupe County together and owned multiple rental properties, several of which he later helped turn into owner-financed homes for their longtime renters.
A man of family and faith, Burton was a devoted Christian. He and Pat were active members of Cross Church in Seguin, Texas. He loved country and Christian music, and the couple could often be found dancing to live music at Friday night dances at the Silver Center and again on Sunday afternoons at the Geronimo VFW.
Burton was a hard worker and a truly devoted steward of the land. He raised cattle with his eldest son, always maintained a well-kept yard, and enjoyed potting beautiful flowers. He also had a creative eye for his collection of cedar posts, envisioning what each one could become and gifting his creations to family members. Along with this treasured handiwork, Burton passed down to his boys and grandchildren the value of hard work and the responsibility of tending to the land with one’s own hands.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Debs (T.D.) and Minnie Riebe; his sister, Margaret Roberts of New Braunfels, Texas; and his brother, Dr. Thomas Riebe of Bergheim, Texas.
Burton is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Pat Riebe; sons: Russell (Sunsedrae) Riebe and Neal (Deborah) Riebe; grandchildren: Ryan (Rebecca) Riebe, Skylar (Alexandrea) Riebe, Megan Riebe, and Alex Riebe; and great-grandsons: Bentley, Beau, and Rome Riebe.
