Portion of Walnut Springs Trail closed beginning this week

Seguin, TX, USA / Seguin Today

Portion of Walnut Springs Trail closed beginning this week

(Seguin) — Portions of a popular walking, running and biking trail in Seguin will be closed starting today.

The city says the southern portion of the Walnut Springs Trail, from beneath the South Austin Street bridge to the Pecan Bottom in Max Starcke Park East, is closing for utility construction.

Mayor Donna Dodgen says unfortunately this important project will interrupt usage of this part of the trail for quite some time.

The work is part of the Geronimo Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant expansion project and is expected to take several months.

The one-mile Pecan Bottom Trail loop will remain open for now, but additional construction in January will require that trail and the park’s disc golf course to close as well.

City officials are asking residents to observe posted closure signs and stay out of construction areas.

The closure will remain in effect until further notice.
